Education in Qatar

The school education in Qatar is controlled largely by two bodies – The Ministry of Education and Supreme Education Council. There are also the privately managed independent schools in Qatar. Majority of these schools are managed and run for English speaking western expatriates, although local families too, send their children to these schools. The schools are for children of American, British, German, French, Pakistanis, Indians, Egyptians, Japanese, Filipinos, and several other nationalities.

Many of the schools have better resources and equipment when compared to the Schools by the Ministry of Education. The independent schools teach both Arabic and English. The Supreme Education Council is investing heavily in its teachers, and plans to switch over to English completely, in the coming years. The private schools attract most expatriate children, and Qatar offers good choice and value for the money when it comes to education. School timings are varies in schools. Some schools keep different timing for Summer.
