Teaching Jobs - Mechanical and Electrical Workshop Engineer Technician

Job Description:

Reporting to the Vice Principal, candidate will assist in the preparation and delivery of practical Mechanical or Electrical Engineering based subjects to students who are on the Diploma of Engineering Technology Programme. The incumbent is responsible for setting-up and assisting with workshop and laboratory practical lessons, maintaining tools and equipment and general housekeeping in accordance with the policies to ensure the quality of teaching and learning is maintained.

Assist the Teacher with setting up of simulators and/or trainers to perform specific tasks and contribute to student development during workshop practical sessions as instructed / assigned by the Program Manager

  • Consult with his supervisor on a daily basis regarding workload for the specificday
  • Teaching load of up to 8 classes per week
  • Keep inventory of all laboratory and workshop equipment, materials andtools
  • Ensure adequate materials and tools are available for students to carry out performancetasks
  • Ensure the laboratory equipment is available for use and in a fully functionalcondition
  • Hand out materials and tools to students to carry out specific practical tasks and ensure the said materials and tools are handed back after the tasks have been completed
  • Assist the Trainer/Lecturer with setting up of simulators and/or trainers to perform specifictasks
  • Assist with supervision during student practical tasks (if and when required)
  • Assist supervisor with student performance assessments
  • Installation and wiring of boards for demonstration purposes
  • Mounting of materials/tools on boards for demonstration purposes
  • Assist with student supervision during examinationperiods
  • Contribute to student development during workshop practical sessions
  • Contributes and participates in the effective use of simulators, trainers, tools and other laboratory equipment
  • Repair and maintain all equipment, and appliances (i.e. high voltage transformers, switchgear, motors, controls, etc.)
  • Prepares estimates for work orders and requests material required (if and when required)
  • Understands and complies with all STS Policies and Procedures
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Lead Teacher/Senior Coordinator

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Technology or Engineering (Mechanical, Electronics, Electrical, HVAC, Welding, Instrumentation & Control, Civil Engineering)
  • Trained in all aspects of Safety and conversant with the current legislation of the OSH
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics
  • Computer literate, IC3 /ICDL
  • Excellent English skills and could pass an IELTS Academic at level 7

Required Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years industrial and/or Lab Instructor experience with Mechanical, Electronics, Electrical, HVAC, Welding, Instrumentation & Control, Civil Engineering,etc.
  • Minimum 2 years working experience as a Workshop Assistant/Technician, preferably with a Technical Training Institution

Monthly Salary Range:

TAX FREE Monthly Salary is AED 8,999


First 29 days employee stays in a hotel suite while looking for accommodation. (Assistance will be provided)

Monthly Housing Allowance:  Single AED 4224 and Married AED 5280

AED 20,000 Cash Relocation Allowance given at beginning of contract. Half upon arrival and half after probation period

Health Insurance Coverage:

Provided for employee, spouse and up to 3 dependent children

Annual Air Tickets:

Yearly Cash Allowance given based on home country location for employee, spouse and up to 3 dependent children

Relocation air tickets also provided at beginning and end of contract


In addition to official holidays, paid leave is allocated as per academic calendar and as per the country Labour law. Minimum 30 work days per year

Dependant School Fees:

School Tuition of 40,000 AED per family, maximum 20K per child. Must be living in UAE

This allowance to be used for tuition fees, exam fees, text books, uniform, school transport (with official invoices from the school)

Visa & Medical Check Fees:

VISA fees and Medical check done in the country are paid for by the school for Employee only. Employee responsible for Visa costs for dependents

End Of Service Benefit:

Receive 21 days basic salary for each full year of service, as per Labour Law.  Plus economy air ticket to place of permanent residence for employee, spouse and up to 3 dependents

Contract Period:

Open Contract - renewable yearly



Paperwork Requirements:

Notarized and Attested academic degrees, teaching certificates, transcripts, marriage and dependent birth certificates.  You will be advised of school requirements
