Teaching Jobs - Head of Science Department

Job Description:

An International School in Qatar that follows the British Curriculum is looking for a candidate who will be responsible for liaising and leading teachers in the Science Department (Biology, Physics, Chemistry) and for curriculum development for the program. Must be an experienced teacher able to teach Science (Biology, Physics, Chemistry) at different levels of Secondary. Develop lesson plans and themes in line with British curriculum objectives. Facilitate learning by establishing a relationship with students and organizing learning resources and the classroom environment.

Meeting with teachers, counselors and administrators to resolve any possible behavioural or academic problem. Must also establish clear objectives for all lessons, and projects and attend staff meetings

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor Degree in Science (Biology, Physics or Chemistry) from a recognized University (From the UK preferred as this school uses the British Curriculum)

• TEACHING LICENSE FROM ONE OF THE FOLLOWING COUNTRIES: UK, US, CA, AU, NZ, ZA and Scandinavian countries (due to Visa restrictions)

• Must have excellent English Speaking and Writing skills

• Must have excellent classroom management skills and able to deal effectively with student behaviour issues


Required Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years teaching experience in Science Subjects (Biology, Physics and/or Chemistry) at a Secondary grade level (In the UK preferred)
  • Minimum 1 year experience as Head of Science
  • Culturally sensitive, dependable, flexible and able to work in a continuously changing environment



Monthly Salary Range:

TAX FREE Monthly salary from QAR 13,000 to 16,000 depending on qualifications and experience


FREE Furnished accommodation according to marital status & number of dependents relocating OR a Housing Allowance given between QAR 5,500 and 8,500 monthly, depending on marital status and number of dependents


Health Insurance Coverage:

Medical insurance for employee and one dependent (spouse or child)


Annual Air Tickets:

Free Annual air fare for employee and one nominated dependent (can either be spouse or child)



In addition to official holidays, paid leave is allocated as per academic calendar and as per country Labour law. Minimum 30 work days per year


Dependant School Fees:

Covered as per school policy


Visa & Medical Check Fees:

VISA fees and Medical check done in the country for Residency Visa are paid for by the school for Employee only

End Of Service Benefit:

21 days basic salary for each full year of service. Plus economy air ticket to place of permanent residence according to Labour Law of the country

Contract Period:

1-2 year contract – renewable



Paperwork Requirements:

Notarized and Attested academic degrees, teaching certificates, transcripts, marriage and dependent birth certificates. You will be advised of school requirements
